Description & Other Info

The City of Aspen Recreation Department takes kids ages 8 and up out on the real rocks of Independence Pass. Join head climbing instructor Jeremy Graham for a day of climbing in the mountains surrounding Aspen. Learn the basics of knots, rope work, belaying, rappelling, and "leave no trace" principals of outdoor recreation. We only do top-roped climbing in the outdoor setting, and all participants will wear helmets. All guides have first aid training and are certified through AMGA. The City of Aspen is operating under permit by the White River National Forest and is an equal opportunity employer. Meet and return to the Red Brick Recreation Department, 110 E Hallam ST #135.

Refund Policy: Cancellations for a 100% refund must be made 7 days before scheduled trip. A 50% refund will be provided for less than 7 days notice. No refund for day of cancellations.

Daily Equipment List for Outdoor Club All equipment listed must accompany your child to ensure their well being and safety while outdoors in various weather conditions. It can get very cold in the summer months when the weather becomes wet or windy. Please try to avoid cotton clothes. Wet cotton does not insulate, and we do not want your kids to be cold and miserable!

Climbing Days:Please bring: warm jacket, rain jacket, pants, tennis shoes, or boots (no sandals), 2 water bottles, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, lunch, and enough snacks for a fun day of climbing at 10,000 ft above sea level!
